Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Download Size For PlayStation Revealed

August 14, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

It’s a significant investment in your hard drive’s space.

We now know the download size for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, at least on PlayStation platforms.

As reported by PlayStationSize, these are the download sizes for PlayStation 4 and 5:

PlayStation 4: 55.669 GB (Version: 1.01)

PlayStation 5: 43.340 GB (Version: 1.001.000)

PlayStationSize also reminded us that pre-load is available on August 23, 2023.

We had also recently reported that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will have two DRM systems on place, Arxan, as well as Easy Anti-Cheat. Arxan is very similar in function to Denuvo, but you won’t hear as many gamers complain about its inclusion. That’s because Arxan isn’t known to hamper or degrade performance for the video games that it is on.

As you can see, all the details are lining up for what players can expect with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

As modern games come and go, 40 to 50 GB is a significant size, but not at the level of the largest game downloads out there. PlayStation 5 also has some proprietary compression technology that allows it to run games even while compressed. So, we should expect Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon to be closer to the PlayStation 4’s 55 GB file size.

As a frame of reference, FromSoftware’s most recent release before Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, Elden Ring, was just under 45 GB on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, 49 GB on Xbox platforms, and a significantly massive 60 GB on Steam.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is that the addition of these anti cheats means that it can’t be Steam Deck Verified. If fans can find a way to bypass these anti cheats and make the game playable on a Steam Deck, Deck users will definitely have to pass on online play for the game. Maybe it would be worth it for a proper portable experience, but perhaps some gamers will opt to play the game on a Windows based gaming handheld instead, such as the ROG Ally.

Aside from that, it has definitely been quite some time since FromSoftware made a new Armored Core game. FromSoftware seem to have new ideas of where to take the mech genre in 2023, and FromSoftware and mech game fans are certainly looking forward to them.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be released on August 25, 2023, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows on Steam.
