Are you ready for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Many are, and anyone who has played the first two titles in the series by Insomniac Games knows what to expect when it arrives. They’ll get a deep narrative, some incredible gameplay, nice boss fights, and a beautiful-looking title, thanks to the power of the PS5. So yeah, it’s a lot to look forward to. Insomniac has been dropping trailers and teases of what to expect in the game, but they’ve also had fun posting gifs and poking fun at themselves in the process. For example, let’s look at a tweet they posted today that’s rather funny.
Yeah, this references the previous games that they couldn’t help but make fun of. But if you look closer at the gif, you’ll notice something important going on. In the shot, we see Dr. Curt Connors, aka The Lizard, dealing with Peter Parker in the Symbiote Suit. That’s important because, at this point, we haven’t seen a confrontation between them outside of the initial gameplay trailer, where Peter and Miles are trying to chase down The Lizard before Kraven and his army gets to him.
But just as important, when The Lizard roars in this gif, it’s clearly hurting Peter. That’s key, as the Symbiote has always had a weakness to sound. It’s also weak to fire, which could be a problem in certain characters show up. So if Peter can’t figure out a way to shut up The Lizard, he will have a problem.
Then again, he might remember this when he and Miles have to face off against Venom later on in the game. As of now, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 only has a few villains confirmed. Kraven, The Lizard, and Venom are among them. We know Martin Li will return in some form and that Miles will face off against him, but it’s unclear if he’ll be powered up at that point.
Furthermore, we know that Kraven has come to New York City to hunt down heroes and villains as he sees them as the perfect “prey” for his skills. That means that others in the city, like Black Cat, the Sinister Six, and beyond could be targeted by Kraven.
Insomniac Games hasn’t been afraid to go big and bold in the past with Spider-Man and his allies and villains, so it will be interesting to see all that goes down once the game arrives on October 20th.
