Pokemon fans rejoice; two more classic Pokemon games are making their way out into the Nintendo Switch platform. If you enjoyed Pokemon over the years when it first gained its massive momentum, you’ve likely played these games. Announced today, both Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Trading Card Game are launching on the Nintendo Switch Online service. However, it’s still leaving some fans yearning for those original classic installments we enjoyed all those years ago.
Nintendo Switch Online offers a few benefits for players. For instance, the big one is the fact that players can enjoy online multiplayer. But besides that, there’s access to a collection of free retro video games. Then you have the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which adds the collection of video games you can enjoy if you maintain the subscription, such as games from the Nintendo 64 era. If you’re a subscriber, then you might be interested in diving into these latest releases on the platform.
Pokemon Stadium 2 finally gets to join its predecessor today. This game acted like the original installment when it launched on the Nintendo 64 in 2001. Players would get to battle against trainers while renting a collection of Pokemon. Meanwhile, there is also the addition of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Regarding Pokemon Trading Card Game, this title launched for the Nintendo GameBoy back in 1998, and it acted similarly to the original RPG series. However, you were battling characters with the classic Pokemon trading cards instead of actual Pokemon.
These new additions might be exciting for some players that enjoyed those early years of Pokemon video games. However, it might leave fans a bit more eager for Nintendo to reveal some of the mainline classic Pokemon games to launch into the service. Those original releases have yet to make their way into the service, and it might become a big deal if that happens. But only time will tell as soon the focus might transition over to Nintendo’s Switch successor console that is rumored to be unveiled sooner rather than later.
Are you keen on going back to replay some of these classic installments from the Pokemon franchise? However, if these games were a bit before your time, perhaps you might be interested in seeing what the Pokemon games were like decades ago.
