Starfield Fans On PlayStation 5 Are Signing Petition

June 19, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Will they be able to persuade Microsoft?

Microsoft made some major headline news when it acquired Activision Blizzard. However, some were not thrilled with this purchase. With several established studios under Microsoft’s control, we likely wouldn’t see too many of these games released on rival console platforms. Now fans are starting to really regret seeing Microsoft purchase Zenimax Media as Bethesda is gearing up to release their next major game, Starfield.

Bethesda was one of the big studios to be acquired by Microsoft, and prior to the acquisition, we knew that Bethesda was working on a new IP. Starfield was teased, and it gained plenty of hype right away. However, since Bethesda is now under the Xbox umbrella, they won’t launch games on PlayStation or Nintendo platforms. Instead, you’ll likely have to stick with the Xbox console or the PC platform. That’s not stopping some fans from starting petitions.

Thanks to a report by The Gamer, we’re finding out that one petition is gaining some attention. Bethesda fans on the PlayStation platform are vocal about Starfield not landing on their console platform of choice. Of course, the way this petition reads does suggest that it could have been a troll post from the start. At any rate, fans are reaching out in hopes that there are enough players showing interest in the game so that Microsoft would allow a PlayStation 5 version of the game to be released. At the current moment, there are just over a thousand signatures, intending to hit 1,500 right now.

Meanwhile, those who are standing with Microsoft could argue that games like Starfield might give the company a better chance at competing with Nintendo and Sony. But again, the upcoming Starfield game is only slated to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. Likewise, if you have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, you’ll find the game available on that service as well.

Currently, Starfield is set to launch on September 6, 2023, for the PC and Xbox Series X/S. While we wait for the game to finally release into the marketplace, you can check out a trailer for the title in the video embedded below. Likewise, there was a recent deep dive on the title which you can learn more about character customization, abilities, NPCs, and shipbuilding right here.
