Dambuster Studios have revealed that Homefront: The Revolution will have levels from TimeSplitters 2.
However, Dambuster is not adding these levels in the conventional way. Instead of adding them in as, say, playable levels for your characters to move in, they are accessible via an arcade cabinet. The cabinet is located in a makeshift prison in the middle of Philadelphia, and merely serves to be an Easter egg. You will be able to play TimeSplitters 2’s first two levels, named Siberia and Chicago respectively.
Crytek, who still owns the rights to TimeSplitters, have de-confirmed the production of a TimeSplitters 4 four years ago. Of course, you may remember that Dambuster Studios, originally known as Free Radical, were the original developers of the TimeSplitters games. Although it is a fitting Easter egg, it does not indicate that they will be able to make new TimeSplitters games, at least that we know of. However, the good news is that a new Homefront game is finally on the way.
Homefront: The Revolution will launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 20. Dambuster have also shared a new ‘Ignite’ trailer, giving fans an idea of what to expect. You can watch the trailer below.
