Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy fans are not happy with the latest patch released for the game. One tweak to the game seems to have made one boss battle incapable of being affected by the different Unforgivable Curses. Thanks to a post on Reddit, we’re finding out that one boss was tweaked in this patch, but the patch notes don’t indicate what they took away from players. So if you’re fond of Unforgivable Curses, you might have to practice not using them when you come face-to-face against Cassandra Manson.
Apparently, some players who eventually made their way to the quest that would put them against Cassandra Manson, they would find themselves crashing the game if using Avada Kedavra. This spell would title crash against this boss, and the patch notes stated that the development team at Avalanche Studios was able to resolve the problem. However, fans are finding out now this issue was resolved because Avalanche Studios took away the ability to cast the spell or any of the Unforgivable Curses on the character.
We’re not sure if this is something that would be placed in the game permanently or if there are plans to resolve this issue in another update that once again restores the Unforgivable Curses. Regardless, fans were not happy over this discovery as they vented their frustrations within the Reddit thread. So we’ll just have to wait and see if this is something that Avalanche Studios offers to fix in the next update that would resolve the crash when a player triggers these spells against the character.
Of course, if you’re unfamiliar with using the Avada Kedavra curse, this would kill off the enemy instantly. As a result, it’s not a spell you can learn early into the game, so most boss fights will be done without that Unforgivable Curse being available within your arsenal. Meanwhile, this patch update offered over 500 fixes to the game, hopefully fixing any problems you might have had when going through the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
With that said, Hogwarts Legacy is getting another surge of players lately as the game just launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. Meanwhile, those of you who are planning to pick the game up on Nintendo Switch will have to wait until July 25, 2023, for it to release on the platform. Of course, we also have a Before You Buy video coverage on the title. You can view our coverage of the game in the video embedded below.
