Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Will Require A Download Regardless If You Purchase A Physical Copy

April 24, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what we know so far.

Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of the next major video game release. After the immense success of Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the next thrilling installment is nearly here. Those of you who plan on playing through Star Wars Jedi: Survivor might have wayed out on whether to go through a digital purchase or a physical purchase. Those of you who might have opted out of going through a digital release might have been because of your particular internet situation. However, even if you’re not fond of downloading video games, there appears to still be a download requirement for physically purchasing this game.

A new report is starting to spread online. A physical copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is starting to be shared online. It’s not the gameplay that’s being spread around but the actual physical copy of the game. That’s not surprising as we’re nearing the release, so copies are starting to hit the various retailers worldwide for the launch. What players are noticing is that the physical copies of the game are noted to have a download requirement. Most are pointing out that this shouldn’t be too surprising either, as the game size surpasses the amount of space available for the game disc.

If this becomes a norm, it might sway more players to opt for a digital download. After all, you can get the benefit of preloading. Those that pre-order a game can often download and install the title well before it releases into the marketplace. This allows players to avoid lengthy download times and enjoy the game right when it becomes available. Meanwhile, some strong arguments exist on why players will opt for a physical release. For one, you can lend the game out or even resell it to recoup some of the money after you finish it.

At any rate, we don’t have too long of a wait before we can get our hands on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The upcoming video game release is set for April 28, 2023. When the game does launch into the marketplace, we’ll find it available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. This new installment will once again put players into the role of Cal five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Cal is once again striving to fight back against the Galactic Empire as they continue their efforts to eliminate all of the last remaining Jedi.
