Fable From Playground Games Is Reportedly In A Playable State

February 6, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Developers are still chipping away at the Fable reboot.

The Fable franchise is massive, and while it had a fanbase, the IP fizzled out several years ago. This franchise first got started back in 2004, with the last release being Fable Fortune in 2017. For a few years, there has been no indication of when or if this franchise would ever see a return. Fortunately for fans, the IP was picked back up and unveiled to the masses back in 2020. But since then, we’ve been patiently waiting to see something revealed regarding the game’s current progression. Fortunately, according to a recent report on the upcoming Fable reboot, we have some news.

Thanks to a report from Twisted Voxel, it was noted that Vijay Gill’s Linkedin profile noted the current progress on Fable. If you’re unfamiliar with the individual, Vijay Gill is a Playground Games producer handling Fable. This latest report states that Playground Games has reached a playable state with the Fable build. That is quite a milestone, and it’s showing that the production is keeping up with the game despite not having anything to share with fans since its initial announcement trailer.

We’re still likely a good way out before Fable is ready for the public. But rumors and speculation ran rampant with the long absence from the public. Fans were quickly reading rumors that production was halted, rebooted, and even decisions to change up the game engine. However, that doesn’t look to be the case, and we’ll soon get to dive into the magical fantasy world of Fable as Playground Games continues to hit these development milestones.

For now, it’s a waiting game to see just what Fable will hold. Again, we only had one trailer showcasing the game announcement. We don’t know what the narrative will hold or what exactly will change compared to what players had in previous games. Regardless, there are still quite a few fans eager to see how Playground Games handles this IP. If you’re not familiar with the studio by its name alone, these are the folks responsible for the Forza Horizon series. This would be their first game developed that wasn’t a Forza Horizon title as well. But with the incredible details of the environments from the Forza Horizon series, we expect Fable to be eye-catching.

In the meantime, you can catch the announcement trailer for Fable in the video we have embedded above. When this game does release into the marketplace, we know that it will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms.
