GoldenEye 007 Xbox Port Rumored To Launch This Month

January 11, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

An industry insider claims the port is finally coming at the end of January.

The Nintendo 64 has a few notable games players look back on fondly. But one particular game created a massive following and introduced some players to the FPS genre. GoldenEye 007 was one of those games that players gravitated towards and created some thrilling multiplayer gameplay. While it would seem that this game would never see a new release on platforms purely from the various licenses involved, players were surprised just a few months ago with a port announcement. While rumors have swirled around this game being brought back out, it wouldn’t be until September of last year that we received an official reveal.

This title is going to receive a new port which was officially unveiled to be coming for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Unfortunately, we are still waiting to see more of this game as it’s been more or less under wraps since its announcement. But we know that we’ll get the support of 4K resolution and, most importantly, online multiplayer support. While this game had a solo campaign that players could go through, most would remember the game for its multiplayer gameplay. Fortunately, the multiplayer is still very much intact and will allow players to jump right back into facing off against friends.

We’re certainly interested in seeing this port, and it could come this month. This latest rumor comes from industry insider eXtas1s, who noted that GoldenEye 007 would be released at the end of January. Hopefully, it sticks to the original game, and we don’t see any content cut. In fact, there was already a remastered edition of this game that was slated to hit the marketplace but was ultimately cut. With that said, the game was eventually leaked online, which was quite an improvement over the original 1997 release of GoldenEye 007. But again, not much of this new port has been unveiled to the public yet. Fortunately, there is one stream that could potentially unveil the release.

It was recently revealed that Microsoft is holding an Xbox Developer_Direct stream at the end of this month. That could be a stream where we get small little reveals and announcements like the release of GoldenEye 007 on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Of course, that’s purely speculative, but the stream lines up with the supposed launch teased by the industry insider. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see just when this game will get its official release back into the marketplace.
