Nvidia released new drivers yesterday in anticipation of The Division’s release on the PC. The 364.47 drivers have been reported to cause restart loops, blue screens, and worse.
The graphics card manufacturer has confirmed that there is indeed an issue with the drivers they released, and they are recommending that users avoid the update. They have released a new set of drivers to remedy the problems caused by yesterday’s release. The new 364.51 beta drivers can be downloaded from Nvidia or through the GeForce Experience app.
The previous driver included optimizations for The Division, Need for Speed, Ashes of the Singularity and Rise of the Tomb Raider. It also added 3D glasses support for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Despite its promised optimizations, users who downloaded the update and used it to play their games have reported instability, visual artifacting, audio driver conflicts and restart loops. In some cases, these issues could only be resolved by restoring Windows to a previous savepoint.
Nvidia recommends simply upgrading to the latest drivers, but you’d be better off uninstalling them completely and installing the new .51 beta drivers fresh just to be on the safe side.
Better safe than sorry.
