Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson spent 48 hours creating a new game called Minicraft during the Ludum Dare 22 event for indie game developers. You can play it here.
Notch announced on his Twitter account today that he’s working on Minicraft 2.
“Minicraft 2 is being worked on, for no good reason. It needs a better name, though,” said Notch, who described the game as a “Zelda-ish top down game with crafting influences from Minecraft.”
The game plays like an “action roguelike with crafting and modifiable terrain,” according to Notch.
I have no idea where he’s going with the concept, but it’s certainly interesting to see him expand upon the game’s Minecraft-like elements. The game’s development could very easily give both Minecraft and 2D sidescroller Terraria a run for their money.
