Rumoured Forspoken Demo Is Now Real – Available Now

December 8, 2022 by Paul James

Demo out now!

Yesterday we reported the rumour that a Forspoken demo was on the way from Square-Enix, and now it has been confirmed at The Game Awards. The best news of all is that you can get your hands on it right now!

Off the back of announcing several indie titles that are slated to come to the PS5 Demo Fest following The Game Awards, host Geoff Keighley followed up to reveal that Square-Enix’s Forspoken would also be joining the fray, and with a January 2023 release date incoming, it was a fantastic opportunity for players to go hands-on with the title ahead of the game’s release.

About Forspoken:

Get a deeper look at the devastating effects of the Break, a powerful and mysterious force that corrupts everything it touches, including the inhabitants of Athia and the Tantas, the once benevolent matriarchs who now rule the lands as evil and maddened sorceresses. Then, experience the corruption first-hand in the playable demo, available now for PS5

Forspoken puts players in the shoes of Frey Holland, an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in a fantastical and dangerous land called Athia. Frey takes center stage in Forspoken, exploring an unknown world and facing treacherous trials to unravel the mystery behind Athia.

The trailer reveals several more details about the full game, with the press release reading,

The trailer provides a deeper look at the devastating effects of the Break, a powerful and mysterious force that corrupts everything it touches, including the inhabitants of Athia and the Tantas, the once benevolent matriarchs who now rule the lands as evil and maddened sorceresses.

Players will experience the corruption first-hand in the demo and can expect to face-off with a variety of enemies and test their fighting abilities with an extensive arsenal of attack and support magic that will prepare them for the high-octane action they will encounter when the full game launches next month.

Designed for PS5, Forspoken will harness the full power of the console and demonstrate Luminous Productions’ philosophy to provide a gaming experience like never before, fusing together the latest technology with creativity.

Players can also tune in to see new gameplay during the upcoming Forspoken stream on December 9, 2022 at 10:00am PST / 1:00pm EST with Ella Balinska as she dives deeper into the world of Forspoken with new and exclusive gameplay footage.

Forspoken will launch simultaneously on the PS5 and PC on January 24, 2023
