BLACKTAIL Shares New Trailer To Lure You Into The Forest

December 5, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Get ready for a twisted tale this month.

Ahead of the game’s upcoming release next week, developers THE PARASIGHT and publisher Focus Entertainment have released a brand new trailer for BLACKTAIL. In keeping with the surreal and witchy vibes of the adventure itself, the new trailer beckons viewers into the forest, where some truly spooky shenanigans await.

BLACKTAIL will see players stepping into the shoes of a young girl cast out from her village, and accused of witchcraft. Players will be able to create their own version of the tale of Baba Yaga, reliving the origins of the classic Slavic folk story out in the wilds of the forest. If you’re in the mood to get in touch with your supernatural side, you can check out the latest trailer for the game right here before its launch on December 15.

The game will make use of an interesting first-person archery and spellcasting set of mechanics in its core gameplay. You’ll definitely need to work hard to improve and fine-tune those skills, as the forest looks set to provide plenty of survival and combat-based challenges for such a young outcast. The new trailer gives us a bit more of a look at some of the evil spirits players will encounter on their adventures as Yaga, as well as exploring some of the varied landscapes that seem to abound within the forest. From snow-covered chasms to enemy-laden platforms and creeping vines, it looks as though there’ll be a wide range of areas for players to venture into.

Yaga’s journey revolves around hunting down the evil spirits that haunt her in order to unveil the truth about her mysterious past. It looks like a game packed full of mystery and intrigue which will surely strike a chord with those who enjoy both stealth gameplay and spellcasting. The forest itself is also designed as a treasure hunter’s paradise, with a number of secrets and hidden items relating to Slavic myths and folklore for players to uncover on their travels. The game will also play heavily into choice-and-consequence mechanics as part of its morality system. This will give players options as to how they want Yaga’s story to eventually pan out, ultimately choosing whether or not to become a force for good or unleash the full strength of Yaga’s witchy wrath on those who expelled her.

BLACKTAIL will launch on December 15 and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. Those opting to pre-order the game on Steam now will be able to bag themselves a special 20% off pre-launch discount, but you’ll need to be quick to get it while it’s on offer.
