During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Telltale Games shared more information about their upcoming game, The Expanse: A Telltale Series. This game is inspired by the TV show of the same name and follows the adventures of Camina Drummer and her crew aboard a scavenger ship called Artemis.
Earlier this year, Telltale Games shared the announcement trailer of The Expanse: A Telltale Series. The game takes place in the near future, on the outskirts of an asteroid belt. A bloody mutiny breaks loose on a scavenger ship near Jupiter, the Artemis. You play as XO Camina Drummer and your decisions will determine the fate of this spaceship.
According to the pre-alpha gameplay trailer of The Expanse, this game will be full of action and important decisions. Telltale Games stated they didn’t want players to be passive bystanders but to have a real impact in the game. Other Telltale games do feature decision making, but they rarely matter in the long run – besides killing off a character here and there.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series will feature several zero-G scenes. The trailer shows Camina Drummer fighting against someone else in low gravity. She also ventures out into space, floating between spaceship wrecks.
As a TV show, The Expanse already counts six seasons. It is based on a series of nine novels by James S.A. Corey, published between 2011 and 2021. This should give more than enough material for Telltale Games to create a deep story that could even run through multiple episodes, just like The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series will launch on X. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
