There are a lot of people still feeling the repercussions of the major shifts in the DC Comics movie and TV lineups that have dominated the last ten years or so in one form or another. Many are still very sad to hear about the definitive death of the Arrowverse with The Flash Season 9 being confirmed to be the end of its run (all the other DC Comics shows are not officially in the Arrowverse). And then there’s the DCEU, where people have no idea what’s going on with it, and aren’t likely to get answers anytime soon. Which brings us to the current head of DC Comics movies…Walter Hamada.
That is a name you likely have heard for a variety of reasons over the years. Such as how he was called as a witness in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial in which he was asked to talk about Heard’s role in the Aquaman films.
You also likely know him from all the various allegations that have been put against him by former DCEU actors like Ray Fisher. Who noted that he and other high-ranking executives ignored his many complaints about Joss Whedon when he took over a certain only for him to be exposed eventually and them all put in a bad light.
Fast forward to now, and with the Warner Bros Discovery merger, things have been shifting greatly, and Walter Hamada has very much been the “last holdout” of the old regime. But, that might now be changing. We say that because according to reports, he might be on his way out the door after the recent cancelations that have happened.
While this isn’t confirmed, it should be noted that his contract will end in 2023. So it might be an easier departure than suspected. We’ll just have to wait and see.
