We are less than a month away from the return of Westeros and the people who live within it. Albeit, from a previous time as the upcoming House of the Dragon series takes place well before the time of Game of Thrones, when House Targaryen was the dominant house. Regardless, many are eager to see what the show is likely, and HBO is definitely hoping that people invest in it like they did with GOT. To that end, and to ensure that everyone understands/talks about what they’ve seen, an accompanying podcast will happen.
The podcast is partially described as “the go-to audio destination to unpack and discuss everything Game of Thrones for casual and die-hard fans alike.”
Which is no doubt what HBO wants, as they’re trying to bring back the fans they lost due to the GOT final season, while also luring in those who have never given this franchise a chance, and show them what it’s like and how deep the show is.
“Our goal is to create a space where all fans – whether they’ve been watching for 10 years or 10 weeks – can truly immerse themselves in all things Game of Thrones and maybe even learn something new from the folks who brought it to life,” said co-host Jason Concepcion in a press release. Greta Johnsen adds, “We’re very excited to welcome listeners back into a world full of Thrones-ian drama, deceit, and delight.”
“We consistently hear from viewers that they want to discuss and dissect our programming after watching it,” said Michael Gluckstadt, Director of Podcast Content for HBO Max. “By investing in podcasts, we’re able to extend the conversation beyond the show and engage fans on a deeper level, enhancing the overall storytelling experience. With The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon, fans can continue to unpack not just a single show, but the entire world of Westeros.”
You can see a trailer for the podcast above, and the show itself arrive on August 21st.
