Stoic has announced the release date for The Banner Saga on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. The viking-themed turn-based strategy game will be out early next year, on January 12.
It was originally slated for release this year, but was delayed.
The game's technical director John Watson says that porting the game provided the studio the opportunity to redesign the game for a controller.
"Porting the game certainly presented technical challenges that we needed to overcome," he said. "We have managed to merge the story and gameplay from Banner Saga with a refined controller interface to make it a very enjoyable console gaming experience."
In addition to finishing the port, the studio is currently developing its sequel, The Banner Saga 2. The game will be out in 2016 across multiple platforms.
