MechWarrior Online, the online multiplayer arena game with gigantic mechs has just launched on Steam with the long-awaited Faction Play features.
Originally launched in 2012 as a closed beta, MechWarrior Online has seen over 10 million matches played. The game offers over 350 Battlemechs to choose from and 19 territories to fight in.
"Launching the game on Steam gives us the ability to introduce the unique and deep gameplay experience of MechWarrior to entirely new audiences," said Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games.
"We're entering a new phase of our development of MechWarrior with this latest update, and we're excited to begin engaging our loyal fan base in new ways as we head into the next year. It's been a long road to today's update with a lot of challenges that we've overcome with the support of the MechWarrior community, and we're looking forward to meeting the new pilots on the battlefield as we continue to expand MechWarrior Online."
Piranha Games is also planning some huge announcements for fans of the game tomorrow during a livestream from 5pm to 1am Pacific, where they'll reveal future development plans for the game.
The game is available worldwide on Steam, for gamers in North America, Europe, and Oceanic regions.
