Developer Comcept has released another gameplay trailer showing off new features for the upcoming game Mighty No. 9. The video shows the game’s Challenge Mode, Boss Rush mode, One-Hit Death Maniac Mode, and online co-op challenges. The video mentions that the game’s goal is to be “fun, challenging, fun, and repayable as hell.”
Mighty No. 9 was originally announced, along with its Kickstarter, in 2013. Considered a spiritual successor to the Mega Man games, it closely mirrors Keiji Inafunue’s series’ gameplay and style. The game is focused on 2D side scrolling movement and platforming, blending 2D and 3Dartwork and animation. Players control an android named Beck, who can jump and shoot projectiles. New weapons and abilities can be acquired from defeated enemies.
After being successfully Kickstarted, the game was picked up by publisher Deep Silver. Since then, it has suffered a series of unfortunate delays. The game was originally supposed to release this year, but will instead launch February 9, 2016. The setbacks, which have come again and again, have left some to wonder what could be wrong with the game. Inafune has expressed a desire to create a larger franchise for Mighty No. 9 outside of the game release. He has announced an animated series created by Digital Frontier, and a feature film created by Legendary Pictures.
Mighty No. 9 will release on February 9, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.
