This Fallout 4 Mod Improves Graphics Without Any Performance Hit

November 26, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

This new mod for Fallout 4 adds a host of new lighting effects to the game.

As thanksgiving sets upon the US, now’s a great time to dive into Fallout 4. If you’re lucky enough to be playing the PC version of the game, you’ll have access to many mods that both improve the experience and add new content to the game.

Since the game’s release, modders have working tirelessly to add various improvements to Bethesda’s magnum opus. One of the best mods to come out yet is a mod that drastically improves the way the game looks, with little to no impact to its performance. If you’re already playing the game at a solid 60 frames per second, adding the mod shouldn’t do anything to mess up your framerate.

The mod is called E3FX SSAO and it’s developed by Drogean. What it does is add rich next-gen effects like SSAO, realistic lighting, and sharpening, to enhance the atmosphere of the game. This creates a more realistic feel without any color changes.

To install the mod, simply place the contents of the archive in your Fallout 4 directory and run the game. You can enable and disable the mod by hitting the Scroll Lock button on your keyboard. It’s the best way to check out the differences.

Be sure to check out more mods for Fallout 4 in our list of the top 10 must-have mods for the game.
