Final Fantasy Explorers Collector’s Edition Announced

November 12, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Includes DLC quests exclusive to the game’s Western release.

During the Nintendo Direct presentation today, Nintendo took time to announce a collector’s edition for Final Fantasy Explorers, the 3DS exclusive Final Fantasy action-RPG.

The collector’s edition comes packed with Final Fantasy Explorers, the official soundtrack to the game, a limited edition 32-page artbook, a Final Fantasy Explorers-themed hardcase for your 3DS system, and special box packaging that features artwork from series concept artist Amano.

Additionally, the collector’s edition will have codes to download four quests that are exclusive to the Western release of the game. These quests will reward legendary Final Fantasy weapons taken straight from existing Final Fantasy titles, like Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 8, upon completion.

As noted in the Nintendo Direct presentation, characters in Final Fantasy Explorers will have access to over 20 jobs (classes in Final Fantasy terms) that any character can select at any time, even allowing for some jobs’ spells to be transferred across to other jobs. Additional customization options will allow characters to mix and match equipment and “the Trance ability” will allow players to fight as iconic Final Fantasy characters like Lightning and Cloud.

Final Fantasy Explorers was released last year in Japan for Nintendo 3DS. It will be released in North America on Jan. 26, 2016 and in Europe on Jan. 29, 2016 for a suggested retail price of $39.99 and will include all DLC release for the Japanese version of the game. The collector’s edition will retail for $69.99.

Those who pick up the retail version of Final Fantasy Explorers will receive a code to download Final Fantasy I on 3DS through the eShop. This version of the FF 1 is not based on the NES version, but rather the PlayStation Portable version with better graphics.
