There is a laundry list of reasons why Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was such a hit. Boasting a unique art style that is influencing art to this day, the film brought Miles Morales to the masses with a dynamic story and soundtrack. Sadly, many people didn’t watch it in theaters due to the fallout from the pandemic. Hopefully, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will change that when it arrives in June of 2023.
The movie is not only the sequel to the original but an expansion of everything the original film set up. In Into the Spider-Verse, audiences were very brought into the world of Miles Morales with all other characters (Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Pig, and so on) venturing to him in order to interact. This time around, Miles will be traveling to other worlds to interact with other Spider-heroes including Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man of Japan, and more.
On the flip side, we’ll also be seeing some new villains, with one already being revealed at an animation festival in France: The Spot.

For those who aren’t familiar, The Spot is the alter ego of Dr. Jonathan Ohnn, who becomes infused with an experiment that allows him to travel incredible distances via his spots. This also includes him being able to straight-up travel between dimensions. This makes Ohnn the perfect villain to feature in a movie about multiversal travel.
If he’s in the movie, we have to wonder who else might be scheduled to make an appearance. The wait for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse just became all the more difficult.
