Forza Motorsport will be the next game in Microsoft’s sim-racing franchise. Motorsport (just that, no number) was unveiled by Microsoft at its Xbox and Bethesda Showcase along with a detailed gameplay trailer highlighting new features such as ambient weather and accurate damage.
Check out the trailer for Motorsport below.
Forza Motorsport will feature real-time ray tracing, dynamic weather, damage, and daylight. Microsoft called it “the most technically advanced racing game ever made.”
Rumors prior to the announcement had suggested that Motorsport could be released by the end of 2022. Unfortunately, racing fans will need to wait a touch longer as Microsoft confirmed it will be released in Spring 2023. However, an exact release date wasn’t given.
Microsoft did confirm that Motorsport will be playable on Xbox consoles, PC, and via the Cloud on day one. Game Pass subscribers will also be able to play the game as part of their subscription at release. For an in-depth look at Forza Motorsport, check out the gameplay demo below. The video goes into great detail about just how the game will be the “most technically advanced racing game ever made,” it’s well worth a watch.
The next edition of the Motorsport series is long overdue. Forza Motorsport 7 was released in 2017, meaning there will have been a nearly five-year wait between entries by the time the next game is released. That’s much longer than Microsoft’s original plan to release Forza games every year with the Horizon series and Motorsport series trading off. Nevertheless, this will be a welcome return for the games that started it all.
