NCSOFT West just announced that the fantasy MMO Aion is available on Steam for free. The game first launched in the US in 2009, but its addition to Steam will surely grow its player base. “Aion has a dedicated fan-base, and we’re excited to work with Steam to provide availability on their digital library," said Jeff Pabst, vice president of Commerce at NCSOFT West.
The latest expansion, Aion: Upheaval, is among many recent updates to the game. The launch also brings a new server called Beritra, the first since Aion became free-to-play in 2012.
For those unfamiliar with the game, the premise revolves around the god Aion who created the world Atreia and the Drakan, dragon-like creatures meant to protect the Atreian humans. But eventually, the Drakan revolted, and after a war between the two species, the world was separated into two separate worlds — but the humans quickly found themselves fighting with each other.
