It's been an exciting Paris Games Week so far and Detroit: Become Human is surely one of this year's standout previews. The game is set in a futuristic Detroit inhabited by androids. The Quantic Dream team actually went to Detroit to study the city and capture its energy; they felt that it was a logical place for an android industry to pop up and grow.
The game features a brand new 3D engine. "The idea is to really leverage the power of the console," says Writer and Director David Cage. "We tried to use the technology to improve the graphics but also to improve the emotion that the player will feel, having better facial animation, having better lighting, having larger environments with a lot of life and passersby and things happening wherever you look around."
But despite its impressive graphics, Detroit is still all about the story of the game. "The player is the core writer of the experience," says Cage, and they will tell the story through their actions.
Detroit will be a PS4 exclusive, though there is no release date yet.
