If you're looking for a reason to download more Steam games, Dirty Bomb will launch an update on October 28. Containment War will bring new content like a Mercenary that resupplies allies and throws Molotov cocktails (there are now 17 available Mercs), the new Execution Mode, and the Dome map for Objective and Stopwatch.
Execution is a single-life mode in which players battle over twelve rounds to eliminate the enemy team by planting a bomb.
Here's what some of the new mercs, including the newly added Stoker bring to the table:
- Stoker: A disruptive force on the battleground, Stoker can close down chokepoints with Molotov grenades and resupply allies with a deployable ammo station.
- Phoenix: An offensive-minded healer with self-revival and healing abilities enabled by nanite technology.
- Phantom: A terrifying Recon Merc with a refractive armor suit that allows him to turn invisible in battle and close in for the kill with his Katana.
- Red Eye: A medium range marksman who tactically uses smoke grenades and his infrared goggles to spot enemies on the field.
- Sparks: A not-so traditional healer who comes equipped with a gun that can revive teammates and cause enemy damage from a distance.
Players who play Dirty Bomb between October 28 and November 4 will be able to unlock the medic Phoenix for free.
Containment War is the biggest update since Dirty Bomb's open beta began. "We're grateful to everyone telling us what they love or what they’d like to see improved so far," said lead designer Neil Alphonso. "In an expanding universe of team-based shooters, we’re committed to giving hardcore PC players something a bit different for years to come."
Dirty Bomb has been available on Steam for free since June 1.
