Ubisoft has shared a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, revealing how much criminal activity you will be able to do in the game. The setting may be different, but it does not seem to have a lot in common with playing other gangster games.
As Jacob and Evie Frye, you start and grow Great Britain’s biggest gang, The Rooks. There are three types of activities you can engage in, and they connect to each other in a loop. Engage in activities that make money, and take territory, so that you can expand your gang and its influence.
Expanding the gang involves the traditional Assassin’s Creed experience. You work with Assassin associates to take missions. You do these missions on behalf of the Assassins, and you improve your connections, and influence, with the associates as well.
There are several ways to make money. Enter turn of the century fight clubs to wager on your favored fighter. I’m not sure this is historically accurate, but you can engage in carriage street races against rival gangs for money. You can also rob trains, raid gang boats, and / or sabotage shipping supply lines, to steal technology, undermine your rivals schemes, or take their territory.
Speaking of taking territory, you can be a real piece of work to the gangs you conquer, and eventually, take over. Hunt for bounties on your rival leaders by kidnapping them and giving them over to the police. Hunt for Templars within rival gangs themselves, and kill two birds with one stone. Take over rival strongholds, and when you are finally ready, instigate gang wars to complete your takeover of the gangs and their boroughs.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be available on Xbox One and PS4 on October 23, and on Windows on November 19.
