Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will not have the same type of ending sequence as the previous game, Human Revolution.
The ending in Human Revolution was criticized by players for offering a "choose your ending" sequence in which players had to press a button to decide which ending to get. It didn't take any of the player's actions throughout the game into account, rendering them almost meaningless.
The game's developer Eidos Montreal told PCGamesN today that the studio wants to take into account the decisions you make throughout the game during the ending.
“I’m not going to say how many endings we have; there’s a few, and obviously the choices in the last map in the game will have a big impact,” game producer Olivier Proulx said.
He said that it was complex to build endings that organically followed the player's actions throughout the course of the game, and that the final mission will still have an impact on the ending.
“But the decisions you make earlier can be used to affect the last parts of the game. So, much earlier decisions impact you right until the end.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set for release on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 on February 23.
