NCSOFT and Carbine Studios have announced that MMO WildStar is now officially free-to-play.
New and existing players from North America and Europe will earn a free ticket to the planet Nexus, where they can experience all of the content which has been released for the game to date.
“Today is an important milestone in WildStar’s history and the team has been working very hard to make sure the game is better than ever,” Mike Donatelli, product director at Carbine Studios, commented in a press release. “We received a ton of positive feedback from our fan base through our closed beta and have worked to create a game that is fun, accessible, and engaging for all players.”
Carbine Studios adds that the free-to-play shift will benefit both veteran players and newcomers alike. Alongside the business model shift, a major update titled WildStar: Reloaded introduces new content, improves game systems, adds in-game events, and offers other general enhancements.
A new trailer, by Paris-based creator Fortiche Productions, has also been released to mark the transition and can be seen above.
WildStar originally launched in June 2014 with a subscription model.
