The team behind the upcoming steampunk sci-fi action RPG Steelrising have shared a new story trailer today. The game, which is set in an alternative version of the French Revolution in the 18th century, is scheduled to release later this year. With the release of another sneak peek, it seems that publisher Nacon and developers Spiders are ramping up the hype ahead of its launch.
Steelrising will see players taking on the role of the Queen’s mechanical bodyguard and all-around wonder of 18th-century engineering Aegis, as she endeavours to hold off the evil mechanical forces of the rampaging Louis XVI. He’s on a furious mission to usurp Queen Marie Antoinette, and there’s clearly no way that Aegis is going to let that happen. Well, certainly not without a fight. The trailer showcases some of the impressive cinematic work that’s gone into Steelrising and is sure to leave eager fans ready to jump into the revolutionary Parisian action.
While the game did show off a five-minute gameplay trailer back in April, this time the teams and Nacon and Spiders are focusing more on the story and premise of the game, which you can check out right here to learn more about.
In the trailer, we get a glimpse into Aegis’ combat skills, as well as a first look at some of the mechanical enemies she’ll encounter. Additionally, we also get a look at some of the human characters in Steelrising, some of whom seem quite happy to try and manipulate the protagonist to their own ends. It’s definitely an interesting concept and one that plenty of gamers will look forward to playing through when the game is released on September 8th.
Steelrising will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Store.
