Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China Redone with Original Ezio Voice Actor

August 24, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Roger Craig Smith wasn’t asked to voice Ezio in Chronicles: China.

Fans have put together a reworked scene from side-scrolling spin-off Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, which includes original Ezio Auditore voice actor Roger Craig Smith.

Ezio appears briefly in the game but Ubisoft and developer Climax Studios used a different voice actor for the scene. Smith lent his vocals to the character in Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and animated short Embers.

Smith has now re-recorded Ezio's Chronicles dialogue himself, with the video appearing on Assassin's Creed YouTube fan channel Loomer.

"These lines were recorded without the astute direction of Amanda Wyatt (my voice director on the AC games)," Craig says, "as well as without the assistance of Ida Darvish and Peter Arpesella (my dialect coaches on the AC games) – all without whom the character of Ezio would not exist.

"If I've butchered the accent or botched the performance for these lines – that's all on me! Many thanks to Ubisoft and to the fans for your support of this epic gaming franchise. Insieme per la Vittoria! [We stand together!]"

Smith previously said he had not been approached by either Ubisoft or Climax Studios to appear in the game. Chronicles: China was the first of three episodes in the game, with India and Russia still to come, though Ubisoft has been quiet regarding those titles lately.

You can compare Craig's dialogue with the original lines from the game in the video below.
