It’s very fair to say that the Oscars last night was dominated by a certain actor going and slapping a comedian for a joke he made against that man’s night. But for a certain large group of fans last night, they were cheering for their victories that they willed into existence. If you didn’t know, the Oscars (in an attempt to bring more people to watch and like them) opened up two categories for fan votes. One was “Fan Favorite Film” and the other was “Cheer Moment. Enter Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
In that film, the true version of the cut that Zack Snyder intended to show fans before being railroaded off the project by WB and personal family issues, The Flash “Entered The Speed Force” in a climactic scene, and as a result, the Oscars chose that for fans to potentially vote on. Not only did the Snyder Cut fans do it, that moment won the Oscar. Now, technically, there wasn’t an award handed out to Zack Snyder, but the impact is still there.
Especially when you recall that the other moment’s it beat out included the bullet dodge from The Matrix, and the Spider-Men uniting in Spider-Man No Way Home, a movie that BLEW UP the box office upon its arrival.
Yet, the fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League came together and made their voices heard…twice. Because remember that “Fan Favorite Film” category? Well, the Snyder Cut wasn’t eligible for that (for some reason…) and so Snyder asked for fans to vote for Army of the Dead…and they did…and it won.
That means that whether people want to acknowledge it or not, Zack Snyder went 2-for-2 with the Oscar nominations last night, and that’s pretty cool.
Whether this will #RestoreTheSnyderVerse or not is up for debate, but this is a win that can’ t be taken away from that fanbase.
