It’s honestly a little funny just how different the Star Wars universe is right now compared to where it was by the end of the sequel movies. Because after the very lukewarm (pun partially intended) reception of The Rise of Skywalker, fans felt that things had “run their course” and that it was time to end things. But because of The Mandalorian (which aired just a month previous) and all that came with that, Star Wars was saved. What’s more, we got a load of new series featuring various characters, not the least of which was an Andor series.
If you don’t recall, Captain Cassian Andor was revealed to the world in Rogue One. He was a dedicated member of the Rebel forces, but one who had the “darker side” to him in the fact that he would do anything for the Rebellion. Which was proven as his own first scene had him kill one of his own members so that he could escape with key information.
Now, we’re going to learn more about his life in the Rebellion, but we’ve only gotten precious little information about the series. However, new reports are stating that the series is aiming for an August release.
This would line up with the current Disney+ schedule as Obi-Wan Kenobi’s series is starting up in May (and will run less than two months) and then Ms. Marvel is arriving in June, so that would give some room for Andor to come in and “fill the void’.
The show will once again star Diego Luna and he’s very excited to see what the show reveals about his character beyond what we saw in Rogue One.
And given that the Stars Wars series have been good for the most part overall, it’ll be interesting to see how this one turns out.
