A trailer for Dark Souls 3 was shown during Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference, announcing a release date of “early 2016,” today.
The trailer opens with the words, “…now only embers remain,” and progresses to show a desolate wasteland with a tower in the background. Inside the tower is a person, reaching out for a crown. The trailer closes out with a shot of a giant rising from the ground and seemingly igniting itself as it glows and orange/red color.
It appears Dark Souls 3 will be the “final” entry in the Dark Souls series, according to vice president of marketing & digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe Herve Hoerdt.
“We are blessed to have such a supportive and loving community, and we are happy to dedicate this final episode to them,” Hoerdt said in a statement.
