The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2 Announced

January 25, 2022 by Matt Cook

VR’s biggest game gets a sequel, kind of.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, one of the best VR games around, is receiving a follow-up. Chapter 2: Retribution is a continuation of the Saints & Sinners story that began in 2020. Skydance Interactive, the developer behind the original game, hesitated to call this a sequel. However, it is a standalone continuation of the first game’s story.

The second chapter will have players once again take control of the Tourist in New Orleans. Although there is a hint that the locale could be expanded upon from the first game. Skydance describes the game as follows, “players step back into the shoes of the Tourist in another gruesome bout of physics-based carnage set in the game’s post-apocalyptic New Orleans. It’s said to take place in “the French Quarter and beyond.” Details on the game are still light at this point. Though Skydance did say the game will feature new characters and players will “face new threats as they make gut-wrenching choices that will determine their fate.”

There’s no release date or window for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution just yet. Skydance says that more details will be revealed later this year. There was also no indication about which VR platforms the game will be coming to. As VR is the wild west in terms of technology and competition, no single platform is guaranteed to see the release of the game. Sony recently revealed more details on its PlayStation VR 2 which is expected by the end of this year. A successor to the Oculus Quest 2, the most popular VR headset, could also be on the horizon. Therefore Chapter 2 could take advantage of some of the new VR technologies that are coming soon. It’s possible that the game is designed for the systems that the original game appeared on which are the Quest, PSVR, and PC VR. There’s also the possibility that it is a next-gen VR title that won’t be available on older devices like PSVR or the original Oculus Quest.
