A new skin for Batman: Arkham Knight has been revealed, thanks to the Xbox Store. This is the Flashpoint version of the suit, given that Arkham Knight treatment that we really like. It joins the likes of the Batman Beyond and the Dark Knight Rises skins in the game. Or will it?
With many games, skins come as pre-order DLC or in-game unlockables. That’s not the case with the Flashpoint skin though; it is highly exclusive and can only be obtained if you purchase the Season Pass, which will go for $40. The list of DLC is as follows, as listed on the Warner Bros. Games community website:
· Batgirl: A Matter of Family– An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series – check out the first render of Batgirl.
· The Season of Infamy– Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.
· Gotham City Stories– Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.
· Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks– Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.
· Crimefighter Challenge Maps– Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.
· Character Skins– A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman.
So you won’t be paying $40 for just the skin, but it will probably feel that way if you’re not interested in any of the other DLC that comes with the Season Pass. This could be a tough decision for some, and with there being less than three weeks until its release date, even we’re a bit on edge. There have been no updates as to what other skins will be included and which allies you can play as, but perhaps once they’re announced, those will convince players to buy the Pass?
We're not gonna lie, the Flashpoint Batman skin looks awesome. We can see guns in those holsters which are probably just for style, and he looks a heck of a lot more intimidating here than he did in the comics. He looks tougher and well, literally sharper.
Is it just us, or does Batman look more miffed than usual here? Maybe it’s because he has a feeling that a lot of people might not get to play using this particular skin, even though they want to. Kidding aside, we’ve seen (and bought) pricier Season Passes in the past, and the Arkham Knight Season Pass seems pretty packed with promising (albeit vague) bonus content. If you don’t care for those, then $40 is indeed a prohibitive price, even for a really cool skin.
Are you planning to purchase the Season Pass just for the Flashpoint skin? Or were you already interested in the other content?
Batman: Arkham Knight will be released on June 23 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
