The Division: Base of Operations, Trading Weapons, and Other Info

May 5, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Some of New York’s key landmarks may be bases.

Open World Games has released a new video focusing on Base of Operations throughout New York City in Tom Clancy's The Division; what they do, and how to tackle them.

Base of Operations are special areas within Manhattan which shape who controls the metropolis. Bases are customisable and upgradable and offer information on the surrounding area. They also come with various useful facilities including an armoury, medical tent, and tradestation.

The video tackles how bases can be shared between players and how they act as a social zone within the game. We also learn of the factions vying for control of the city – as you might expect, liberating a Base of Operations will affect the delicate balance of the factions' influence within New York. Your actions throughout the game will also impact how you're viewed by the factions who can side with or against you.

Grand Central Station and the Intrepid aircraft carrier turned air and space museum are rumoured bases, while the New York post office seen in the E3 2014 demo is a confirmed base. The game begins on Black Friday when a virulent disease is released and the government send the player character into the city to get the lay of the land.

The Division is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year.
