Fans of Evolve should take note: the game is now live for pre-load on the PC, with the download clocking in at 26GB for the pre-load. For those wanting ALL the announced content, there is a PC-exclusive "Monster Race Edition" with a hefty price tag of $100.
While it comes with a ton of "extra" in-game content, one has to wonder if it's worth the admission price at the end. What Comes in the Monster Edition
For those unaware, Evolve is a first-person shooter game that pits four hunter players on a team against one monster player. The Standard Edition of the game you start out with the three basic monsters: the Goliath, the Kracken, and the Wraith. If you pre-order, you'll also get the fourth Behemoth monster for free as an added bonus.
This fourth monster will run you $15 after launch, so it's a relatively sizable pre-order incentive. There's also a fifth yet-to-be-revealed monster exclusive to the Monster Edition of the game – though again, you can purchase it later separately for $15.
To best understand what else you get in the Monster Edition, you'll need to know what's coming in the other editions:
- Standard Edition: You're just getting the base game in this edition, unless you pre-order, in which case you'll get the fourth Behemoth Monster and the "Savage Goliath” skin for the Goliath Monster.
- Digital Deluxe Edition: This gets you everything from the Standard Edition and the Season Pass to the game at a slight price break compared with buying separately.
- Season Pass: This will get you four new hunters when they come out in the spring of this year. Pre-ordering the Season Pass will also grant you three exclusive "Magma monster skins" for the Goliath, Kraken, and Wraith monsters.
The Monster Edition will get you all of the above and more. In addition to the fifth playable monster mentioned above, you'll also get two additional hunters which are not included in the base game or Season Pass and will be unique content to Monster Edition buyers for the first 30 days of the games launch. (Afterwards, they'll be extra DLC content.)
In addition to that, you'll also get four Monster skins that, like the two hunter characters, will be exclusive to the Monster Edition for 30 days.
Evolve releases next Tuesday, February 10th from Turtle Rock Studios and is published by 2K Games. Is the Monster Edition worth the extra bucks even after the discount? Eight ball says, "Tough call."
