Bungie has shared a relatively short update to Destiny this week. They revealed the first champions for Crota’s End, and also revealed some new modes.
In the span of a day, 557,354 Raids were launched, and 3,344,124 Guardians struck down on Crota’s End, and the first team that came out on top was One and Done. Surprisingly, One and Done were comprised of a quiet team with no social media presence, some of whom only started playing with each other recently. Their strategy is the same as other teams who got there first; no cheats or hacks, just learning to play together well.
This week, Bungie is experimenting with Doubles Skirmish, the first mode that will let you compete in pairs. No tricks this time, just guns and small team tactics. All level advantages are disabled so all you have is a 2v2 team deathmatch, although you can revive teammates. Heavy ammo will appear once per match. Space Magic will be enabled, but Supers replenish slowly. Ultimately, you can’t score any more than a Double Down, so each win counts.
Bungie says this is only the first of future experimental events, and they are doing far more work in the background.
