Have you run across lag issues playing Diablo 3? Blizzard is in the middle of investigations, but one fan has a theory on why it happened.
Complaints about ping times over 2000ms came up starting this weekend and are still ongoing. Blizzard is now instructing fans to share information with them, using the Looking Glass utility and sharing trace route info.
Assuming you do have a Battle.net account and you want to report your Diablo 3 experience, this is what you can do:
Go here to install the Looking Glass utility. This part is easy since this program is completely automated.
You will need to get trace route info manually. You can get full information on running a trace route for Windows or Mac here. Remember that Blizzard needs the trace route info for when you access IP address 12.168.209.68. You will also need to share your geographical location and ISP.
Now, this fan observed an uptick of activity in the Diablo reddit, and thinks there could be a correlation between the two. Conversely, he believes that thanks to a recent holiday weekend, many players who had not logged in for a long time just came back in. These players then proceeded to get the patch updates all at the same time. Those updates may have been hosted at that one server address.
Now, this is all still a theory for now, since Blizzard has yet to reveal their findings. Whatever the case, we hope they can fix these issues soon.
