Blizzard is rewarding their most loyal World of Warcraft players with a unique token: an Orc statue that may be very familiar to the most Blizzard faithful.
This is because the toy is a replica of the giant statue that Blizzard has in their courtyard: an Orc warrior, wielding an axe, and riding a wolf. This statue was originally designed and sculpted by Weta Workshop in Australia, and shipped all the way to their current headquarters in Irvine, California. Not coincidentally, all Blizzard employees got a copy of the same statue when they moved to this HQ. You can see pictures of the sculpture being installed here.
So, really, this statue is almost like Blizzard acknowledging that their loyal World of Warcraft players are on the same level as their own employees. That’s quite a distinction, isn’t it?
So, how do you earn your way to getting one of these statues shipped to you? They sought out players who had a World of Warcraft account within 60 days of the game being launched in North America or Europe. That player also needed to have maintained their account in the last decade. You should already know if you qualified because Blizzard already sent emails and statues out.
Blizzard commissioned 3,000 of these statues for their employees, and we have yet to learn how many of them they made for their fans. Based on these criteria, however, it seems highly likely they shipped thousands of them.
