Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is the first game to be compatible solely with the New Nintendo 3DS XL, but it certainly won't be the last. In order to help distinguish titles that are exclusive to the handheld revision, Nintendo has provided a different packaging layout.
Above is the box for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. As you can see, instead of having the platform logo on the right side, it has been moved to the top. The result is that the actual cover art seems a little bit squeezed in. Will it this help the average consumer? There have been people who couldn't tell that Wii U software packaging was different from regular Wii packaging, so I don't think this will eliminate all confusion.
New Nintendo 3DS XL arrives February 13. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will come a bit later in April.
