Avalanche Studios and Expansive Worlds have revealed a new standalone game in theHunter franchise, now in Early Access. Introducing theHunter: Primal.
theHunter has always been about first person shooter gameplay, hunting down the most dangerous beasts in their natural habitat. In Primal, in unexplained circumstances, you get to take on three of the Jurassic era's fiercest creatures; the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, and the Utahraptor, in a mysterious island location, around 24 square kilometer, or 9.3 square miles in scope.
You actually start the game out with little equipment, and roam an expansive, but dangerous, open world for weapons, clothing and equipment. Aside from the monsters, you will also have to contend with the poisonous plants in the area.
Perhaps the most interesting about the game is that the dinosaurs are all partly feathered, a reflection of new revelations in dinosaur physiology.
As mentioned above, the game is still in Early Assets, and future content, including wider environments, hazards, and of course, more prehistoric creatures, will be added in in the future. For now, you can check out the Steam page and play it in Early Access form here.
