Japanese author Miyuki Miyabe was contracted some time ago to write a novel all about ICO, the brilliant PS2 game all about a horned boy leading a crazy girl around a castle whilst fighting off shadow monsters, which, I might remind you, is about to get a PS3 HD re-release. If you're not excited about the game, perchance the book – which will be released here in the US on August 16th – might change your mind. I'm pretty sure the book's release in the States is just a "clever" marketing ploy by Sony to drum up fan sentiment and increase general awareness of the game, so I can't really openly criticize it. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus NEED to be experienced by as many people as possible.
On the other hand, of course, ICO doesn't need a stinkin' book. The story is straightforward enough within the confines of the game, and unless the novel is totally, 100% approved as official canon by Fumito Ueda and the Team Ico developers, I can't say that I'd be interested in knowing what's on those 400 pages. You can pre-order the book right here, though, if you really want to.
