Red Faction's been around for longer than most franchises, but the lackluster sales of Red Faction: Armageddon, released last month, may have driven an axe into its skull.
"We do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way," said CEO Brian Ferrell at a conference call with THQ's investors.
He says that the developers at Volition have all since been ordered to work on Guillermo del Toro's inSane game, away from any development on Red Faction.
Red Faction was renown for its physics engine, with its first title released in 2001. It established a cult following after a number of successful releases. It's a shame to say that THQ does not consider the game to be a worthwhile investment.
