Excited to get your hands on the newly released Bayonetta 2? By all means, have fun with it, but don't forget about PlatinumGames' previous Wii U title, The Wonderful 101. The mass superhero action game was well received but sadly didn't make a huge splash in stores. I wonder if Bayonetta 2's tremendous reception will translate into renewed interest for W101?
Unseen 64, a website that digs up canceled, unreleased, and beta game information, has written up a huge feature on W101's development and posted a pair of early prototype videos shown to PAX audiences. As you can see in the footage, the art style was a lot darker and more Western comic book-like, and it was possible to recruit more than 100 heroes to your team at once.
As we learned in the past, the game was going to be an all-star gathering of Nintendo characters, but Nintendo put the hammer down on that idea. PlatinumGames then continued to build upon the idea with original characters, going through several versions before settling on the current designs. At one point, there was just going to be five heroes, and Wonder Red even tried his hand at wielding a sword and a machine gun!
