Sony has revealed what’s coming up next for PlayStation 4’s system software update 2.00, codenamed Masamune.
They had already revealed YouTube support, SharePlay, and themes. Now, they are revealing even more features to enhance your console experience.
Chief among these is the new USB music player. You will be able to play custom music in the background for any game from any USB storage device. The player will support MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP file formats.
You will be able to change background colors to match themes, between light blue, gold, blue, red, green, purple, pink, and gray.
There will be a new ‘Players You May Know’ recommendations feed, similar to the ‘Who to Follow’ feed in Twitter. This will appear under the ‘What’s New’ section.
The Live Broadcasting section now has filters and archived broadcast support. Subsequently, there is a new Featured channel which includes official Sony broadcasts, broadcasts from people in your friends list, and broadcasts from game channels you follow.
The content area and library have been redesigned. You will see the 15 most used apps and games in a glance on the content area. The library has new filter and sort functions to find and organize content by type, name, install date, or recently used.
The console has improved voice commands, in some ways giving it parity to Xbox One. These commands were added in:
· PlayStation – begins commands
· All Commands – shares list of all available commands
· Start Broadcast
· End Broadcast
· Find Face
Finally, there will be a new Add to Library button in the PlayStation Store, that allows users to add a game to their library without having to download it.
