Ain't It Cool reports that changes to Fox's movie schedule have seen the Assassin's Creed movie delayed until 2016.
Fox has moved the Fantastic Four reboot back two months, from June to August 2015, the same month the Assassin's Creed movie was due for release. Michael Fassbender was due to star in the movie, with recent reports suggesting that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as Leonardo da Vinci.
This suggests the movie will be set during the second game, and it seems likely Fassbender will play protagonist Ezio Auditore. This means two things; 1) Magneto is an Assassin, and 2) it may not completely suck like most movies based on video games.
Fassbender is also expected to produce.
However, Ain't it Cool cautions:
"But I hope you weren't waiting with bated breath for that Assassin's Creed movie. As Fassbender gets bigger/more serious, there's as much of a chance as ever that it just, plain, will never happen."
Movie adaptations of games rarely work out well but hopefully, if this project does take off, it'll be better than most.
