InXile Entertainment, whose newest game Wasteland 2 is slated for launch on September 19 through Steam, has released the first ever gameplay footage of their upcoming title, Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Based on Monte Cook’s Numenera role-playing game setting, Torment: Tides of Numenera is being developed by one of the principal creators of Planescape: Torment, Colin McComb, and is slated to be the spiritual sequel to the beloved role-playing game that was released for the PC over a decade ago.
The video released today contains three minutes of pre-alpha gameplay footage from the title, which according to its developers is currently wrapping up pre-production. A cross-section of the game offers a first glimpse at the game’s interactive dialogue, and exploration. Players will be able to immerse themselves in the narrative of Torment with a choice-based dialogue system.
Torment: Tides of Numenera owes its existence to 80,000 Kickstarter backers who supported the project to the tune of $4.188 million and is slated for release next year.
Full disclosure: The author backed both Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera on Kickstarter.
