It’s an eventful week for Super Smash Bros 4, with Nintendo sending out a demo to fans early. Sakurai has continued to share daily updates, highlighting details that would otherwise get lost in the hype. Practically all these updates are for the 3DS version
On Monday, Sakurai treated us to a look at the Vault for the 3DS version. This is where you can see your Trophies and Photo Album. The album will be filled with photos you take from the game, and you can opt to take pictures with 3D and 2D, presumably to save space. You will also be given one random trophy.
On Tuesday, rewards for Classic Mode was revealed. You will see a slot machine like roller telling you what kind of reward you get. Red rewards are for customization, green rewards are trophies, and yellow rewards are in-game gold. You can be rewarded in every stage, and raise the difficulty to get more of them.
The results screen will show up at every stage, telling you what you’ve earned. Fighter icons are special attacks, and shield icons are for equipment. If the reward says Mii, it is a Mii accessory. If they appear on a stand, they’re trophies. You have to finish classic mode to get these rewards, and you can lose some if you lose a stage or two.
On Wednesday, Sakurai confirmed the demo, and yesterday, we found out that Alph from Pikmin 3 is a playable character. You can read about both here and here.
Today, Sakurai shared World Status on Spectator mode. This is where you can see global stats get tallied up, and you can also see characters you have not unlocked yet. You will want to go online at least once so that the game can start tallying your Global Smash Power.
Sakurai also shared that there are plans to release the same patch Japan is getting now around the world prior to release. This patch can be downloaded for fans who are buying the packaged version as well, so if you plan to buy this on disc, stay tuned to news of the patch release so you can download it in advance.
Fans independently verified that the patch adds Conquest Mode, a feature in online play. Playing a specific character frequently allows you to earn points. When you reach a certain percentage, you earn rewards.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be out in the US on October 3. The Wii U version will be out in winter.
